8-10 New Fetter Lane
Frosts are delighted to have been presented with a BALI Award for 8-10 New Fetter Lane in the Hard Landscaping Construction (non-domestic under £300k) category, which is due to be presented at the 2014 BALI Landscaping Awards ceremony in London.
The main area of work was situated within the courtyard that could only be accessed by one route that had to be shared with all other trade contractors. This meant we had to develop very good working relationships with the other trades to enable us to commence and eventually complete our works as this shared access continued for the duration of the contract.
The materials used were high quality black granite (33m2) that formed the central feature area with black stone being used for the cladding to the planters. The main paving used in the courtyard was silver grey granite (235m2) with access to the courtyard via granite clad steps that were also installed by Frosts.
The structural concrete for the steps was installed by other contractors, which meant Frosts had to again follow on with paving and cladding, which required excellent co-ordination between the trades. Due to the location of the project, available storage of materials was at a premium and had to be shared with the other trades so Frosts adopted a just in time delivery schedule to enable us to proceed with the work.
The end result is an impressive small courtyard with a high quality finish and excellent detailing.
