Royal Life Assurance Headquarters
Peterborough
Highly intricate and demanding from an engineering point of view was the main retaining wall to the lakes’ waterfall – shown opposite. The lake water was re-circulated and used to cool the building requiring a constant and close interface with the mechanical engineers.
The soft landscaping comprised a mixture of ornamental and native planting to the car park areas with a formal terraced garden to the rear of the building where we planted a mature 3 metre high instant beech hedge. Despite being planted at the end of March, this was achieved with less than 1% failures. Finally we constructed a sports pitch for the end occupiers’ own staff.
