A new office and retail development have been transformed by the installation of a beautifully designed and constructed public courtyard and private terraces. Award winning architects Stiff & Trevillion were in charge of designing this cutting-edge, contemporary building to complement the historical significance and elegance of Sloane Street.
At the heart of the development is a lush courtyard, inspired by Milan’s beautiful Corso Como. Bradley-Hole Schoenaich designed the planting scheme. We were responsible for the hardworks detailed design, and the design supply and installation of automatic irrigation system.
A change in architect halfway through the project meant a lot of changes and design development was required, which hadn’t been anticipated. The new tropical feel to the planting, meant travelling across Europe hand selecting the stock with the Landscape Architect. The finest quality stock was used to entice visitors, new as well as existing to the area to enjoy the new Sloane Street experience.
This project consisted of thoughtfully designed hard & soft landscaped areas to complement a high specification development in prime west London location. In excess of 1500m2 of UK sourced natural yorkstone paving was laid to exacting standards across 6 levels, which was complemented by bespoke highly engineered stainless-steel drainage channels, hardwood benches & cladding. This was complemented by semi mature planting of multistem Trachycarpus fortunie, Cycas revoluta, Dicksonia antartica, and under planting to the courtyard, with Azalea’s and Pinus to the 1st floor and herbaceous planting to the 2nd floor, to give a considered succession to the scheme.
Yorkstone was also used for cladding, solid raised plants, and a set of steps to the central courtyard. Pots were commissioned with a Belgian manufacturer and bespoke stainless-steel planters were designed, manufactured and shot peened to further enhance the scheme. Stainless steel wires were installed in several locations to support semi mature climbers.
